Chapter 1

I come to tell you a story, a story of my people, and how we came to live among the stars. But, to understand where we are, you must understand who we were…
Long ago on my home world, called Kronos, there was war. A great ruler, Ageon, emerged to quell the wars that had for so long ravaged our planet, and unite all clans under his banner. Ageon was a righteous man, with the powers of the deities that had forged our world, and where many before him had used those powers to bring war and strife, he used them to unite his peoples, and bring prosperity to all. Peace reigned for a thousand years, and in that time, Ageon came to have 2 sons, Aeloron and Alaman who also inherited the powers of the deities. Aeloron was much like his father:  just, outspoken, and loyal to his father, who loved him so. Alaman, the second son of Ageon, was reserved and introverted. While he too loved his father dearly, he could not help but be jealous of the bond his father shared with his elder brother.
As the sons of Ageon came of age, their father had taken ill, and fell into a deep sleep.  It was assumed Aeloron, as the oldest, would inherit his father’s throne, but Alaman had grown malevolent, corrupted by his jealousy, and for years had been recruiting those who would follow him into battle against his brother. War returned to Kronos, and for many years each side struggled against the other, vying for dominance, and control of the world. As the wars raged, each brother grew more powerful in the ways of the deities; Aeloron grew ambitious and emboldened by his power, and Alaman became corrupted by it, and his desire to gain more.
The struggle finally reached its peak, and the brothers met in battle face to face. It was a vicious struggle of will and power, what you would call magic, and it took a terrible toll. So consumed had the brothers become by their hatred of one another, and their hunger for power, that they destroyed much of the land, and those inhabiting it. With his world in peril, Ageon was awakened by the deities to put an end to the brothers’ contest. Seeing the destruction and chaos his progeny had created, he was struck by a terrible guilt at the lessons he had failed to teach his boys. They had been corrupted by power, and there was only one way to make the world right again. Summoning what was left of his strength, he called upon the deities to aid him, and with that assistance struck down his sons.
Knowing that all but the most righteous and noble of men could wield the power and remain pure, Ageon called upon the deities one final time. In the greatest display of power our world had ever known, Ageon drew in all power in the world and sacrificing himself, cast it into the sky where man could not reach it. The Deities, so touched by Ageon’s selfless sacrifice, placed him and his sons as stars in the sky, to forever protect their power from unworthy men.
